Elior North America – Agility through COVID

The major changes that we introduced in the past year were focused on elevating safety protocols for all foodservice locations and pick-up and delivery services through a proprietary “new normal” program called Safe Café. The increased safety concerns and CDC guidelines as a result of the Covid-19 virus required a laser focus on elevating our already rigorous health and safety standards to keep our team members and customers safe, all while delivering on the culinary expectations of our clients. Therefore, we concentrated our efforts on implementing changes to how we were serving our clients and customers (pick-up and delivery vs. dine-in, new 24/7 self-serve marketplaces, etc.), rather than to what we were serving them.

Our teams’ agility and innovative spirit enabled us to serve our clients effectively during Covid-19 and has set us up to thrive beyond 2021.

Safe Café (Elior North America-wide program)

We created a program called Safe Café as a branded way to show customers and guests at each of our company’s units that their health and safety are our priority.

Objectives: To inform customers and guests of all measures taken to elevate safety protocols and to unite our teams, clients, guests and communities to work together to make our sites safer, our service better and our teams stronger.

How it works: Safe Café signage, packaging seals and floor decals at units convey the health and safety standards upheld by unit teams. A QR code displayed on Safe Café signage leads guests/customers to a landing page that explains the details of our health & safety standards.

Behind-the-scenes execution: We created a Safe Café “Playbook” that outlined each element of the program for our in-unit teams, including enhanced procedures for cleaning, physical distancing, service modification, personal health monitoring, personal protective equipment, and other resources to support them in executing the program. Each of our companies also developed their own version of the Safe Café Playbook designed to outline guidelines and service modifications specific to their own clients’ needs.

Our entire family of companies reacted to the Covid-19 pandemic with flexibility, creativity and perseverance to ensure that their clients’ needs were met throughout the uncertainty of the pandemic. Each company implemented new operating models, procedures, and created new offerings to keep up with changing demands.
