Google unveiled Gemini, branded the most competent and all-purpose AI yet produced, as a means of competing with rival OpenAI’s AI products. Google announced that it will extend this large language model’s (LLM) advanced version in the upcoming year. CEO and Co-Founder of Google DeepMind, Demis Hassabis, expressed that Gemini would inch the world closer to the vision of “AI that feels less like a smart piece of software and more like something useful and intuitive — an expert helper or assistant”.
Gemini would be available in three sizes. The model’s adaptability to a range of sizes demonstrates a meticulous approach towards various user requirements.

Another factor is that ChatGPT4 is only available to paying users, whereas Gemini is currently free to use.
Google declined to disclose Gemini’s parameter count—one indicator of a model’s complexity, but not the only one—during a virtual press conference. The most advanced version of Gemini, which beat GPT-4 on multiple-choice tests, elementary school maths, and other benchmarks, was described in a white paper published on December 6. However, the research also noted the persistent challenges in getting AI models to attain higher-level reasoning skills.
