ICL- Reliable Experts in Vehicle and Rail Logistics Solutions

Finished vehicle logistics runs on hundreds of moving parts that rarely communicate with each other. Plant production schedules sit in one system, carrier and rail data live in another, and invoices arrive from a dozen providers, each using its own format and timeline. OEMs and their logistics teams piece together shipment status through phone calls and emails instead of viewing it in one place, and delays or billing errors often surface only after the cost has already landed. ICL solves this by giving OEMs and their logistics partners a single, accurate view of every vehicle in motion.

Founded in 1992, ICL has spent over three decades building software and service solutions for the finished vehicle and rail logistics industry. Its client base includes Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Stellantis, Toyota, Volkswagen, Porsche, and BMW, and its work with Toyota Canada earned the company a Kaizen Excellence Award for embedding continuous-improvement practices into its logistics systems.

ICL’s core product, Vehicle Logistics Management System (VLMS), is software as a service that gives finished vehicle shippers end-to-end visibility by centralizing and digitizing data from every supply chain partner. Built as a modular Transport Management System (TMS), VLMS starts with total visibility from plant to dealer and adds capabilities such as automated electronic invoice audit and special move management as OEMs and their 3PL or 4PL partners need them. Rubicon VLS, a wholly owned subsidiary of ICL, extends that reach into hands-on network management. Co-located with customers in Rochester Hills, Michigan, and Mexico City, Rubicon manages day-to-day network operations, tracks damage claims to completion, and delivers regional coverage across North America, including annual on-site visits to every facility its customers ship vehicles through. Customers do not need to subscribe to VLMS to use Rubicon’s services.

Rail shippers work with RSVP, a railcar tracking and management platform that centralizes data from every railway a shipper uses, giving them end-to-end visibility and analytics from a single source. RSVP turns railroad-provided information into actionable insight on chargeable events like demurrage and reduced transit days, and its embedded analytics run on Tableau at no added license cost. On the yard side, YMS Express gives yard operators a mobile and web-based application to manage inventory, capture gate-ins, inspections, and gate-outs, and cut manual processes, available on Android devices, tablets, and industrial hardware. AutoLoad Planner rounds out the product suite as structured load planning software that helps carriers and OEMs plan the most efficient use of trailer space and routes, supporting mixed vehicle types, multi-stop deliveries, and trailer configurations from head racks to enclosed carriers. ICL reports that automated planning through AutoLoad Planner has helped some operations reduce manual planning workload by up to 70%.

“We are glad to support Stellantis in advancing its network optimization initiatives through a data-driven, scenario-based approach that enables more efficient and resilient logistics decision-making,” — Brian Hook, President & CEO

For network-level decisions, ICL’s Network Optimization service helps OEMs and logistics providers optimize or redesign their transportation networks across every mode. Stellantis North America recently selected ICL’s Rubicon team to apply this capability to its finished vehicle network, working alongside optimization partner Agillence.

Across its product suite, ICL’s approach stays consistent to centralizing the data, removing the manual work, and giving every stakeholder in the network, from the plant floor to the dealer lot, access to the same accurate information. That consistency, built over three decades, is what keeps OEMs, 3PLs, and rail shippers returning to ICL as their logistics networks grow more complex.
